Thursday night's overtime loss to the Arizona Coyotes leaves the Sabres six points behind the Coyotes with just a couple of weeks left in the season. The team that finds themselves at the very bottom of the standings when the season is over is guaranteed no worse than the second overall draft choice, meaning the Sabres could land super-prospects Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel. McDavid is currently the captain of the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. Eichel is presently a center at Boston University. Both are viewed as franchise players.
WJET-TV Sports Director Craig Smylie has been covering McDavid in Erie, Pennsylvania, for the last three years.
WBFO's Jay Moran spoke with Smylie Friday morning about what McDavid brings to the game.
