Jamestown man who set woman on fire gets 21 years in prison

Mar 4, 2019

A Jamestown man was sentenced to 21 years in prison Monday for setting a woman on fire.

Luis Castro-Mojica, 38, was sentenced on a first-degree assault charge in Chautauqua County Court. Castro-Mojica was also sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.

"This case reminds us of the evil doers that law enforcement is there to protect us from and bring to justice," said Chautauaqua County District Attorney. "The actions of this man were inconceivable and leave us wondering why a person would do this to another person."

Castro-Mojica doused a woman with a flammable liquid and then set her on fire in December of 2017, causing the woman to suffer severe burns to her face, head and torso.
