Lake-effect snow coming to WNY

Nov 18, 2016

The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Southern Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties from 4 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday. Impacted areas could see up to a foot of snow. While Buffalo and its immediate suburbs will see little snow, some wild, windy weather is on the way.

While metro Buffalo is not included in the snow watch, city crews are preparing for the winter weather. Public Works commissioner Steve Stepniak says with Friday's beautiful weather, crews are focusing on removing leaves from city streets.

"We upgraded our leaf collection process, and we've been doing that all week, to catch up with the leaves," Stepniak said.

Stepniak says his crews are ready for snow removal duties when conditions warrant, adding GPS on the city's fleet of plows has been upgraded for this winter.
