Buffalo, NY – Congressman Chris Lee has landed a seat on the influential Financial Services Committee in the US House of Representatives.
Congressman Lee admits he was hoping he'd be named to this committee. With Wall Street in collapse and foreclosures on the rise, Lee says the Financial Services panel is likely to be quite busy in the coming year.
For too long, says Lee, Washington has failed to protect average Americans from Wall Street excesses. As a former businessman, Lee supports less government regulation. But he says that's not the case when it comes to the financial sector.
The Financial Services Committee is chaired by outspoken Democratic congressman Barney Frank of Massachusetts. The ranking Republican on the panel, Alabama Congressman Spencer Bachus says Lee's private sector background makes him the right kind of leader to have on the committee at such a critical time.
