Western New York will be the setting for yet another independent film shoot. Crews will begin shooting “Morning Sun” on Tuesday.

Producer Summer Crockett Moore of Choice Films Inc. tells WBFO the production crew will be busy over the next few months.

“We’ll shoot for the next month here in Lewiston, Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Hyde Park and it will be 21 days of principal photography," said Moore.

Some of the shooting locations will include Artpark, the Lewiston Small Animal Hospital and The Foundry Lofts in Buffalo. As many as 50 locals will be used as extras.

Moore says filmmakers were lured to the area thanks to its natural settings.

"Lewiston was a character unto itself. The historic community feeling that it has here, the quaint, beautiful small town vibe was perfect for the film," she said.

This has been a good year for movie shoots in the region. The Buffalo Niagara Film Commission says a dozen projects have pumped more than $15 million into the local economy.

“Morning Sun” is scheduled for distribution in theaters late next year.
