Fourteen farm operations around New York State will share $2.3 million in federal funding to create new products and improve their marketing strategies.

The grants announced by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and are designed to promote "value-added" farm products like apple cider.

“We need our farmers and local producers to thrive if we’re going to have a strong and growing economy in New York,” said Gillibrand, first New York Senator to serve on the Senate Agriculture Committee in nearly 40 years. “This investment will help our producers receive the resources needed to bring their products to market and continue to help drive economic growth across the state.”

The recipients include Niagara Landing Wine Cellars ($250,000) and Vizcarra Family Vineyards at Becker Farms ($250,000) in Niagara County; Partyka & Sons Farms ($170,465) in Orleans County; and Hathaway Farms ($250,000) and Millitello Farms ($41,112) in Chautauqua County.
