Local man arrested for threatening to kill President

A Cheektowaga man has been arrested after threatening to kill President Obama and others.

Joseph Conrad Goode stated publicly that he wanted to use a "high powered rifle to kill all the presidential candidates" along with Obama and former President Bill Clinton. The threats did not end there, and US Attorney William Hochul told WBFO that these statements were enough evidence to warrant arresting the 21-year-old man.

"He also said that one of the reasons he was hoping to engage in the various acts of killing the Presidents and the candidates was to see the, in his words, 'the world burn.' And he made a series of other threats to different people that were of such nature and of such specificity that, frankly, it was felt that the arrest should go forward and the federal criminal charge brought."

Goode is being held without bail, and he will be back in court next week. He faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Hochul did emphasize that the subject is innocent until he is proven guilty.
