The holy month of Ramadan comes to an end with Eid, a holiday much like Christmas with prayer services, family gatherings and gift exchanges. Khalid Qazi, founding president of the Muslim Public Affairs Council of Western New York, said the coronavirus pandemic prompted a change in this year's celebration.

"We thought a car parade might be a way to celebrate while at the same time to keep a safe distance in mind," Qazi said.

Qazi said cars decorated with signs will leave the Center for Tomorrow parking lot at UB's North Campus at 11:30am. The parade will travel to Amherst Town Hall on Main Street and then continue to the Islamic Center on Heim Road.

Qazi expects as many as 100 cars to participate.
