Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw says he will not be running for the position of County Executive.

In a written statement released Wednesday, Mychajliw cited the need to balance his role in government with that of taking care of his family. He said he plans to support current County Clerk Chris Jacobs’ campaign for the Executive seat.

Mychajliw noted that Republican Party leaders and donors asked that he speed up his decision whether to run or clear the field for Jacobs. Mychajliw said he would put politics aside in favor of helping unite party efforts behind Jacobs.

Mychajliw was unavailable for comment.
