As new peacemaker group comes to Buffalo, violence in city continues through weekend

On a night where downtown Buffalo hosted a giant rubber duck, Kanye West, and superheroes at Coca-Cola field, other areas of the city fell victim to violence.

The Buffalo Police are investigating two overnight shootings.

A 21 year old Buffalo male was struck in the leg by gunfire on Orleans Street and Westminster Avenue at a party just before 2:40 a.m.

By 3 a.m., police responded to a call about a 25 year old Cheektowaga male who was wounded multiple times by gunfire, before walking to Warwick Avenue.

Both victims were transported to Erie County Medical Center. Neither incidents were fatal.

Meanwhile, a young Buffalo boy remains in critical condition at Women and Children's Hospital after he was shot in the head Thursday night, in what is believed to be a gang related incident.

A group calling itself 10,000 Fearless Men and Women Peacemakers are responding to the violence in hopes of establishing a chapter of their organization in Buffalo. Yesterday, they marched along Fillmore Avenue to send a message of peace and love. Organizers say their presence in the community will deter people from acting foolishly.The group specializes in conflict resolution and self-defense.
