Niagara Falls man indicted for drugs, explosives, weapons

A federal grand jury has returned a 12-count indictment against a Niagara Falls man on drug, explosives and weapon possession charges.

Jeffrey Richards, 28, of Packard Court had his home searched by law enforcement officials on Dec. 14. The U.S. Attorney's Office says officers recovered, among other items, "amounts of acetyl fentanyl, fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, alprazolam, approximately 10 firearms, various rounds of ammunition, drug trafficking paraphernalia, an improvised destructive device (and) various items used in the manufacturing of destructive devices."

Richards made an appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Roemer and has been detained pending further proceedings. If convicted, he faces 15 years to life in prison and a fine of $5 million.
