The Erie County Sheriff's Office is reminding people that hot dogs are for the grill, not the car.
They are referring to the four-legged kind of dogs - and how quickly your vehicle can get hot, when you leave your pet to run into the store or the bank.
On a 70-degree day, temperatures inside a car can reach over 100 degrees in a matter of minutes. Imagine the temperature when the mercury hits 80 or 90 degrees.
The Sheriff says these temperatures are deadly for pets and it is best to leave them home.
