Retired Judge Sentenced to Prison for Transporting Prostitutes

Buffalo, NY – A retired Buffalo area judge is going to prison for procuring prostitutes for his social club.

Ronald Tills, who also served in the state Assembly, was sentenced in federal court in Buffalo Friday to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty last year to transporting prostitutes across state lines.

Tills was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters when he hired prostitutes, including illegal immigrants, to attend meetings in New York and out of state between 2001 and 2008.

One of the women had appeared before him when he was a state Supreme Court judge.

Tills says he's embarrassed and prays that the victimized women will heal.

His lawyer says 74-year-old Tills abused alcohol and suggested his personality may have changed after coronary bypass surgery in 2002.
