The University at Buffalo has relieved men's basketball coach Reggie Witherspoon of his duties.
The Bulls' season ended Thursday night with a 70-68 loss to Kent State in a quarterfinal Mid-American Conference tournament game.
In a statement, UB Athletic Director Danny White said "after much consideration, we have determined that a change in leadership for our men's basketball program is necessary." White noted that the decision was difficult, and praised Witherspoon for making the school's men's basketball program much stronger during his 14 years on the bench.
White confirmed a national search will commence immediately.
