U.S. women win gold at HarborCenter

A sold-out crowd of 2,000 people were on hand to see the U.S. Women's Under 18 team win gold in hockey at Buffalo's HarborCenter Monday night.


The U.S. beat Canada 3-2 in overtime to win the Women's U18 World Hockey Championship.

Defenseman Jincy Dunne of Missouri scored two goals including the game winner for the U.S. team.  This was Dunne's third trip to the world tournament and first gold medal.  The U.S. women won silver the other two times.

Dunne tweeted after the game "Wish I could actually put words into how I feel. To my teammates, coaches, family, friends, etc...THANK YOU!"

Earlier in the day, Russia won its first Women’s 18 and under medal, defeating the Czech Republic, 5-1 in the bronze medal game.
