Each day in Erie County, the math doesn't add up for its foster care system. There are some 900 children in foster care, but only about 150 certified foster parents and 140 adoptions each year. Now add a pandemic, and the answer to finding forever homes for these kids becomes even more difficult.

The Erie County SPCA is helping shelter dogs in areas hit by hurricanes.

Local family adopts young boy from Bogota, Colombia

A family from Wheatfield welcomed their newly adopted child at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport Tuesday night when David and Brandy Andrews adopted a young boy from Colombia.

Approximately 300 children who are waiting to be adopted in Erie County. 

Hundreds of adoptions take place each year in the county.  On this week's edition of You & The Law, WBFO & AM-970's Mike Desmond talks with Attorney John Brenon about who is adopting and where the children are coming from.
