Pushed hard by Allentown residents, Buffalo's Common Council is now shoving back against the long and slow expansion of bars along Allen Street.

Sidewalks and crosswalks throughout Allentown are being painted with rainbows. As the first part of an ongoing initiative to support the LGBTQ community in Buffalo, the “Rainbows on Allen” project aims to provide permanent symbols of acceptance that last beyond Buffalo’s Pride Week.

Early Saturday morning, there was a burst of violence outside a busy pizza restaurant at Allen and Elmwood. Some are speculating that a hate crime may have occurred.
