Earlier this spring, Amherst Central High School decided not to offer a longtime elective class called “Race in America” during the coming school year. Then came the police killing of George Floyd, nationwide protests over systemic racism, and a group of students that wasn’t having it.


Twelve students and one teacher at Amherst Central High School are in voluntary quarantine after a recent trip to Italy, one of the countries that has been hit hardest by an outbreak of the new coronavirus.

Amherst Central High School celebrated International Women's Day with sessions designed to raise awareness about women's issues. WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley talked to some students honoring women from across the globe.
