There were 800 people registered for the Panasonic job fare Wednesday evening at the Buffalo Employment and Training Center - and more than that came to fill out forms and present resumes - as the company plans 150 hires by the end of August.

Though the Labor Department reports the lowest unemployment rate in nearly five years,  the turnout at a recent career fair indicates many Buffalo-area residents are still searching for a job.

Former state senator Antoine Thompson has a new job.  Mayor Byron Brown has appointed him as executive director of the Buffalo Employment and Training Center.
