Erie County Sheriff to increase boat patrols

As this year's boating season gets underway, the Erie County Sheriff's Department says it will be increasing its patrols along the shoreline.

The City of Buffalo says it may reconsider massive price hikes for slips at Erie Basin Marina. The cost of rent for boat docks is expected to double by 2016 and then triple by 2017 for nonresidents of the city.

It is expected to be a busy Memorial Day weekend on local waterways and boaters are being reminded that the Erie County Sheriff's Department Marine Division will be out in force.

The U.S. Coast Guard was called on to perform two rescues on local waterways over a 12-hour period Monday night and Tuesday morning.
