A new charter school has opened its doors in an East Side neighborhood of Buffalo. The Charter School of Inquiry on Edison is  located in the former Community Charter School building, that closed last year. WBFO's Focus on Education Reporter Eileen Buckley says the school will emphasize critical thinking, problem solving and engaging students.

A charter school that will open this coming August on Buffalo's east side has won an important grant.  The Charter School of Inquiry is receiving a $200-thousand dollar facility grant from SUNY's Charter School Institute.

New charter school proposed for city’s West Side

A new charter school for students in kindergarten through fifth grade is being proposed for Buffalo's West Side. In this Focus on Education report, WBFO's Eileen Buckley learned exclusively about plans to open the SMART Academy. 

The state Board of Regents has approved a new charter school in Buffalo.  The Charter School of Inquiry will open in August 2015.

Enterprise and Westminister Community charters may have new and extended lives as the Buffalo Board of Education  decided on two-year charter extensions.  WBFO'S Mike Desmond reports the board wouldn't go for three-years and now it's up to Albany.
