Retired drug enforcement agent Joseph Bongiovanni is facing federal bribery charges in Buffalo. U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy said the 21-year veteran of the Drug Enforcement Administration used his position to take pressure off friends and associates who had links to Italian organized crime and the drug trade.

Leaders of several Buffalo-based churches invited representatives of law enforcement agencies and City Hall to a meeting, where it was discussed how to improve cooperation to address violent crime. Clergy say they previously planned the meeting but also invited government leaders to ask how the churches might help.

People who have visited Grant Street on Buffalo's West Side in recent weeks have probably spotted bright yellow signs that read: “Attention Johns, You are being watched.”
