Buffalo amateur hockey teams, one a junior college squad and the other made up of teenagers, are gaining national attention for the wrong reason. A player is suspended from classes and facing criminal charges while a youth hockey coach familiar to Buffalo Sabres fans is suspended indefinitely as the results of their alleged behavior in weekend games.

While most local hockey fans are eagerly awaiting the start of the Buffalo Sabres' new season, an annual hockey event continues today inside HarborCenter. Scouts from college and professional hockey teams have come to Buffalo. What's happening there attracts as many as 200 scouts who come to look at prospects, playing under the same roof.

An Academy of Hockey is one of the programs that will be housed at the new HarborCenter in downtown Buffalo. HarborCenter managers say they will also expand the Buffalo Junior Sabres.
