One of the largest Juneteenth festivals in the United States is set to kick off Saturday in Martin Luther King, Jr. Park and the surrounding neighborhood. Work crews were out in the neighborhood on a cool and blustery Friday, sprucing up the greenspace.

A table adorned with everything from books to footballs to Barbie dolls occupied the side of Masten Boys and Girls Club gym on Tuesday. They were given to children who exchanged their toy guns, in an effort to educate kids on the dangers of real weapons.

With a spotlight on tensions between law enforcement and the public, members of the Buffalo community came together on Tuesday night to figure out how they can do their part to improve relations between the city’s police and its residents.
