City of Buffalo

The New Year’s Eve Ball Drop will once again return to downtown Buffalo.

The rain and  heavy, wet snow that fell across Western New York Saturday made for some messy walking but caused minimal problems. Drivers in the immediate Buffalo area were able to get around despite the snowfall. Those traveling south, especially in Springville, encountered more difficult driving conditions because of higher amounts of snow.

Less than 24 hours before the City of Buffalo was anticipating its first snow accumulation of December, Mayor Byron Brown declared the city's streets personnel ready not just for the forecasted weather but for the entire coming winter season.

Consider it an exercise in positive thinking. Look out your window. If you see blowing snow and other wintry scenes, repeat these words: “Buffalo winter weekends.”
