Buffalo's St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

Both of the City of Buffalo's St. Patrick's Day parades, scheduled to run this weekend, have been canceled in response to COVID-19 coronavirus concerns.

There will be plenty of drinking this weekend as part of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Especially for Sunday’s parade. The BPD says they are ready to handle the crowd.

If you're a local elected official, St. Patrick's Day in Buffalo means making an appearance at the Buffalo Irish Center. Many local politicians joined local citizens to celebrate Irish-American heritage Friday at the Abbott Road venue.


Between 70,000 and 80,000 people gathered in downtown Buffalo for the official St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday afternoon.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said the city is ready to host two separate St. Patrick's Day Parades this weekend. WBFO's Eileen Buckley says police will be out in full force to keep citizens safe.
