What’s it like to have your last year of high school interrupted by a global pandemic? WBFO’s education reporter Kyle Mackie asked, and five Buffalo seniors said they’re feeling somewhere between stressed out and sad.

New York State is investing in a Buffalo school to prepare students for future manufacturing careers.  Empire State Development is providing a $3.2 million from the Buffalo Billion initiative to Burgard High School's Advanced Manufacturing program. WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley says even though students are on summer break, they were at the school to demonstrate the program.

Buffalo public school children return for a new school year Thursday. Some parents are optimistic for change as a new district leader kicks off the return to the classrooms. Superintendent Kriner Cash is starting off the new school year at Burgard Vocational High School.

Encouraging students to be future vehicle technicians is the goal of a new program by the Western New York Ford Dealers. WBFO's Focus on Education Reporter Eileen Buckley says the dealers donated four cars to area auto tech schools as part of the Ford Future Techs Initiative.

A new program has been created to prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing. Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy was in Buffalo Wednesday to announce the plan to create an advanced manufacturing early college program at Burgard High School.

Some parents in Buffalo Public School District believe Say Yes Buffalo is helping more students achieve. Say Yes offers tuition to college for city school students, making college achievable for many who previously would not have been able to afford it.

After years of decline in Buffalo's vocational school system Albany is making plans to transform Burgard High School into a manufacturing magnet school.
