While the planned Green Code is supposed to do away with special zoning districts, City Hall is in the midst of starting a new one. This zoning district would be the site of the former Millard Fillmore Hospital on Gates Circle.


Now that the fight over the Canterbury Woods senior housing on Gates Circle appears to be resolved, the possibility of other fights revolve around other buildings on the former Millard Fillmore Hospital land.


The demand for downtown housing appears to be boosting the East Side. "I think what we are finally starting to see is what I call ‘economic development by osmosis’ work its way down Broadway, down William," said Jim Fink of Business First during his monthly appearance on WBFO's Press Pass.

Monday night’s meeting of the Planning Board offered an opportunity for presentation and public comment on developments that could influence new hotspots for living in the City of Buffalo, as well as parking that will be much needed in the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. As far as the latest development on the Canterbury Woods senior citizens residence project goes, a public update is still in the works.

Now that the former Millard Fillmore Gates Circle hospital is a pile of rubble, project planners are moving forward with plans for the first piece of redevelopment on the property. On Tuesday morning, members of the Buffalo Planning Board were shown a design for a proposed future Canterbury Woods senior housing building.

While details are still in flux, T.M. Montante is moving forward with its $63 million development of the old Millard Fillmore Hospital site on Gates Circle. The public was invited to talk about it Monday night at the Burchfield Penney Art Gallery.
