All 76 Buffalo school nurses have to find new assignments this summer. As employees of Kaleida Health, their assignments in Buffalo Public Schools is ending. The Buffalo School Board Wednesday night voted to replace them with cheaper, non-union nurses from two staffing agencies.

Some time this summer, the parking lot at Elmwood Avenue and Bryant Street will start looking like a giant hole in the ground, as environmental cleanup and construction work starts on a major mixed-use building. For decades, Women and Children's Hospital was central to life in the Elmwood Village.  Though the massive structure currently sits vacant, the property still stands as a key part of the neighborhood's future. During his monthly appearance on WBFO's Press Pass, Jim Fink of Business First outlined developers' plans to transform the site into hundreds of residences.

This is the year Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo gradually moves its services from its longtime Bryant Street home into several floors of the Conventus Building on Main Street. Phase One got underway Tuesday with the opening of seven outpatient clinics at the new address.
