Colleges in New York will be required to return to remote learning for at least two weeks if either 100 cases of COVID-19 are diagnosed, or 5% of that institution’s population tests positive, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that all schools in New York state will be closed until the end of the academic year, while raising questions about summer school and even whether schools will reopen in the fall.

With pressure from President Trump for teachers to be armed in the wake of the school massacre in Florida, there is also increasing pressure for armed college professors with the dorm shootings at Central Michigan University.

The Ontario government legislated college faculty back to work on Sunday, ending a five-week strike and paving the way for students to return to class Tuesday.
