Buffalo councilmembers yesterday approved pay raises for themselves, Mayor Brown, Comptroller Barbara Miller-Williams and the school board members. In most cases, they agreed to the recommendations from the Citizens Salary Review Commission.

After no resolution of a request to City Hall for a Special Use Permit to open a former bank as a banquet facility, Councilmember Richard Fontana will try to resolve the dispute at a Saturday morning meeting in the George Arthur Center near Schiller Park.

Buffalo is coming closer to completing development rules for the city's waterways.  While waterfront development often focuses on the shorelines of Lake Erie, the new rules would also take into account properties near Scajaquada Creek.

Buffalo Police have temporarily shut down an East Lovejoy Street bar following an early morning shooting Saturday.

Housing prices in Buffalo are rising to the point prices are going up in some neighborhoods with traditionally lower prices. Council member Richard Fontana is seeing that in his Lovejoy district, where he's the elected representative and a longtime realtor.
