Last year, the state spent $2 million to cover the funeral costs for over 500 homicide victims. The passage of a new law will allow for more help to mourning families.

Acting on a bill sponsored by two state lawmakers from Western New York, Governor Cuomo has signed a new law that will allow the grandchildren of murder victims to be reimbursed for counseling.

Crime victims in need of help paying medical bills or other related expenses can now apply for support from New York State online.
