Calling on law enforcement to the stop violence

Two Erie County lawmakers are pleading with local law enforcement to help stop violent murders in Buffalo.  County Legislature chairwoman Betty Jean Grant and lawmaker Tim Hogues are calling on the Buffalo Police, County Sheriff's Department and State Police to collaborate.  WBFO'S Eileen Buckley says Grant is urging them to attend a summit on July 17th to discuss violence.

Kenmore Police make arrest in murder of bar owner

Kenmore Police have made an arrest in the May 19 murder of the owner of Malone's Bar and Grill restaurant on Delaware Avenue. 

A man accused of shooting another man two years ago in Cheektowaga Town Park was convicted of first-degree manslaughter Tuesday morning in Erie County Court.

Man gets 18 years for Wegmans stabbing

A Buffalo man who stabbed his estranged wife at a Wegmans store in January 2012 has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

A Buffalo teenager has been given the maximum 25-year prison sentence for his role in the death of a 16-year-old in North Buffalo who was set on fire after being stabbed more than 50 times.

The city has launched the Buffalo Police Department's annual summer foot and bike patrols. WBFO's Eileen Buckley reports officers will be located at specific areas throughout each of the city's five police districts to help make streets safer.

Buffalo Police arrested and charged a second suspect Thursday in the murder of an Airport Taxi cab driver. 55-year-old Mazen Abdallah was shot to death inside his cab on Norfolk In March. 16-year-old Sean Austin of Buffalo was arraigned on murder and robbery charges in Erie County Court. 

Kenmore tavern owner found dead in his home

A Kenmore tavern owner was found murdered in his home Sunday morning. Police say 62-year-old Vincent "Jim" Cottone was discovered in his home around 11 a.m. Sunday at 21 Landers Road.

Convicted child abuser sentenced to 15 to 30 years

A convicted child molester was sentenced to the maximum 15 to 30 years in prison Friday in Niagara County Court.

An Erie County Grand Jury has indicted a 34-year-old woman in connection with the 2010 death of her 8-year-old daughter.

West Seneca Police are investigating the murder of a 77-year-old woman.  Detectives say the body of Carol Quinn was discovered in her apartment on Burch Place located not far from the city line.

Two of the four men accused of killing a couple in their rural Chautauqua County home are now charged with first-degree murder, but prosecutors have yet to say how the victims died.

A former star football player at South Park High School has been charged with the murder of a taxi cab driver in the City of Buffalo. 

An arrest has been made in a murder that took place nearly a year ago in Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Buffalo.

Authorities say four men have been arrested in connection with a home invasion that left a Southern Tier couple dead.

New York's tough new gun control law has been getting a lot of attention since January when it was signed into law. Buffalo Police made the first local arrest to include charges under the SAFE Act earlier this week, but the charge does not carry a stiff penalty.
