Senator Charles Schumer appeared Monday morning at the Niagara Falls rail station, which he stated was designed to handle pre-clearance for rail passengers heading into Canada. He's urging government and customs officials in Canada to move forward and implement such a program.

Business owners and others with an interest in customs compliance had an opportunity in Buffalo Wednesday to learn the latest information about how imports and exports are reported and monitored. Changes are coming, including one system scheduled to take effect at the beginning of 2017.

Seven elected leaders, including the mayors of three Western New York municipalities, have co-signed a letter to Canadian federal officials urging them to increase resources that will help ease long waits at local international bridges.
