The Charter School for Applied Technologies on Kenmore Avenue in Tonawanda was in 'lockout' for a couple of hours Monday as Town of Tonawanda Police helped North Tonawanda Police search for a suspect.

An area charter school's graduation rate tops state and local rates. The Charter High School for Applied Technologies in Tonawanda says it achieved a 97-percent graduation rate for 2014-15, according to numbers released by the State Education Department.

Students returned for a brand new school year Monday at two Buffalo charter schools. WBFO's Focus on Education Reporter Eileen Buckley was there as students arrived for their first day back at the Charter School for Applied Technologies (CSAT) on Shoshone Drive.

A Buffalo area charter school is getting assistance in dealing with attendance and behavioral issues.  The Charter School for Applied Technologies (CSAT) recently received a $575,700 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Education Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Grant program.
