Now that they've grabbed the majority in the Erie County Legislature, Republicans  are  "going to make life miserable for County Executive (Mark) Poloncarz, I think," said Buffalo News Political Bob McCarthy during a post-election conversation on WBFO's Morning Edition.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown celebrated a landslide victory Tuesday night against Republican opponent Sergio Rodriguez, gaining nearly 70 percent of the vote.

Republican Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard was re-elected to a third term Tuesday,  declaring victory over challengers Richard Dobson and Bert Dunn. County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw enjoyed a comfortable win over Democrat Kevin Gaughan.

The results are in for Election Day 2013. In western New York the polls opened at 6 a.m. Tuesday.  Several races took center stage including the race for Buffalo Mayor, Erie County Sheriff and Erie County Comptroller.
