Some of the standard issues surfaced again last night as details of a major project at Elmwood and Delavan were explained at a public meeting at the Buffalo History Museum sponsored by the Elmwood Village Association.

A fire at an Elmwood Avenue apartment building displaced several residents late Tuesday morning.


There is more money on the way for renovations and repairs along Elmwood Avenue, cash from a state program and tax credits as part of the Elmwood Historic District.

Buffalo Police have charged a Kenmore man for allegedly placing a fake bomb along Elmwood Avenue in the midst of the Monday morning rush hour.

A major local developer wants to push a video store out of one Elmwood building and replace it with a Panera's; another store worries that a Panera's across the street will hurt business.

An early morning, two alarm blaze closed a portion of Elmwood Avenue overnight.

Crews responded to calls at 353 Elmwood just after midnight where a fire was well established when firefighters arrived. The apartment building suffered an estimated $200,000 in damage, and one person was treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the Red Cross is assisting residents of the building.
