Over recent years, there have been a series of fights about development along Elmwood Avenue in the Elmwood Village. Some of the standard issues surfaced again last night as details of a major project at Elmwood and Delavan were explained at a public meeting at the Buffalo History Museum sponsored by the Elmwood Village Association.

Arrest made in Elmwood bomb scare

Buffalo Police have charged a Kenmore man for allegedly placing a fake bomb along Elmwood Avenue in the midst of the Monday morning rush hour.

Food dominated yesterday's Common Council Legislation Committee.

For all kinds of legal reasons, food and restaurants wind up before the Council.
That can include licenses or variances or many of the other myriad aspects of city government.

A major local developer wants to push a video store out of one Elmwood building and replace it with a Panera's; another store worries that a Panera's across the street will hurt business.

An early morning, two alarm blaze closed a portion of Elmwood Avenue overnight.

Crews responded to calls at 353 Elmwood just after midnight where a fire was well established when firefighters arrived. The apartment building suffered an estimated $200,000 in damage, and one person was treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the Red Cross is assisting residents of the building.
