One day after promoting the financial benefits to Erie County of completing vehicle registration renewals through local auto bureaus, Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs was before the County Legislature's Economic Development Committee on Thursday to support a proposed law that would designate how those revenues would be spent.

The Erie County Legislature is being asked to approve a request from the Poloncarz administration for additional money for road and bridge repairs.

With pot holes popping up on area roads, local drivers are feeling the effects of the long winter. Erie County is already starting to prepare for the work ahead.

Erie County has more roads of its own than almost any county, a situation that many would like to resolve.

With long-range weather forecasts starting to talk about winter weather, Erie County's commissioner of public works says the county's roads are in pretty good shape with most of last winter's damage repaired.

Local drivers may be dodging more road projects than usual this year.

People who live around here are used to snow-plowing season and construction season.

After the winter we had, there are fewer nightmares about snow-plowing and road work started earlier than usual.

County Public Works Commissioner John Loffredo is familiar with all of the issues, since he's on his third stint in the job under various county executives.
