'Stamp Out Hunger' drive to benefit thousands in WNY

This Saturday, letter carriers across the country will take part in the 22nd annual ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive. More than 86 food pantries in western New York are expected to benefit from the donations.

Several local food banks will benefit from an emergency food assistance grant. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the $4.5 million increase this week.

As trick or treaters ring door bells this evening for Halloween, some University at Buffalo students will asking for donations. 

Students will be heading out around UB's North campus in Amherst collecting non-perishable food for the Food Bank of Western New York.

UB students will be dressed in Halloween costumes to participate in Trick or Eat, a program  sponsored by the Meal Exchange.  Terri Budek is the community engagement coordinator at UB's student leadership and community engagement.   Budek said this event engages students to get involved in important issues.
