The Community Action Organization of Western New York is launching a new nutrition assistance program with funding from the CARES Act. The CARES Act is a $2.2 trillion economic stimulus bill signed by Former President Donald Trump last March, amidst the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This past weekend, the Buffalo Dream Center and their mobile food pantry reached a milestone. They have served 10,000 families since the beginning of the pandemic and they don't expect to be slowing down anytime soon.

Food networking has been a major concern during the COVID-19 outbreak. Food Buffalo, a pantry that offers healthy options in communities with high populations of low-income Muslim refugees and African Americans, has been collaborating with several other food organizations to ensure those in need have enough to eat.

An organization which reaches out to hungry individuals is now getting involved with connecting furloughed federal workers to help amidst an ongoing partial government shutdown. It is just one of many new gestures Friday, as affected federal workers miss a second scheduled paycheck.

The Amherst Little Free Pantry is now open at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Main Street in Amherst. The pantry -- located on the church's front portico -- is available 24 hours a day to those in need.

The Resurrection Life Food Pantry in Cheektowaga has received an anonymous donation to buy a new truck for food deliveries.
