New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation that would bar people who attack or kill a gay person in the state from arguing they panicked over their victim's sexuality.

Legislative leaders have announced an agreement in principle on nine bills that they say will extend and strengthen New York City’s rent laws. It’s part of an effort to get a number of bills passed before adjournment later in June.


Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed an executive order that bans all New York State agencies and authorities from conducting business with companies that tolerate or promote discrimination.
