Teachers in Hamburg have overwhelmingly rejected a proposed evaluation plan, putting state funding in jeopardy.

The primary sticking point was the heavily weighted role of the school superintendent in the appeal process. The teachers wanted a neutral party to have sway over such decisions. The deadline for a deal is next week.

At risk for the Hamburg schools is $450,000 if a plan is not approved.

A former Buffalo Bills player has found himself on the wrong side of the law.

Ruben Brown was charged with Driving While Intoxicated after a traffic accident on Friday evening. Brown was arrested after a rear end collision in Hamburg. He was not injured in the incident, but the driver of the other vehicle did suffer minor injuries.

Brown was last a member of the Buffalo Bills in 2003.

Efforts by the Buffalo News to request documents related to the ouster of Hamburg Assistant Police Chief Stephen Mikac have been denied by the town.

A closed door meeting led to Mikac's retirement as he was facing sexual harassment charges for alleged inappropriate contact with a female recruit. The News is appealing its Freedom of Information request.

A state legal expert contends the documents should be released.

A Hamburg man will serve jail time for a decades long investment scheme.

Timothy Geidel employed a Ponzi scheme to bilk investors, many who were family and friends, of more than $1 million over twenty years. Geidel was given a three and a half year prison sentence in federal court. He is also required to repay $1.3 million.

Civil suits against the Geidel and the companies he represented are still pending.

A head-on crash in Hamburg Friday night left two victims in critical condition.

The accident occurred at Route 20 and McKinley Parkway. In all, five people were transported to various hospitals. The identities of those injured have not been released.

Hamburg Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and alcohol is not thought to have been a factor.
