Buffalo MATTERS, a University at Buffalo-developed opioid treatment program, is set to expand across New York State. The program has been credited with helping reduce opioid overdose deaths in Erie County by 40 percent over the past two years.

A brand new addiction treatment center has opened in Niagara County.  Horizon Health Services held a ribbon cutting Thursday for Aurora Village Campus in Sanborn. WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley says the new facility is just for women.  

Pilot program aimed at opioid crisis

A new pilot program is aimed at preventing opioid and heroin addiction.  State Senator Chris Jacobs announced he has secured $50,000 in state funding to support a High School Ambassador Program in Buffalo Public high schools. WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley says the program will promote behaviors to avoid drug abuse.
