Leadership Niagara is hosting an overnight event in Niagara Falls tonight with the idea of engaging conversation about the area's growing problem with poverty and homelessness. 

Albany is kicking in some money to provide better housing for some of Cattaraugus County's homeless.

The number of homeless continues to rise in Western New York.  A new study suggests a corresponding rise in the number of families who have fallen into poverty.

Homelessness on the rise in Erie County

Erie County has seen a dramatic rise in homelessness. The Department of Social Services says nearly 2,200 individuals were placed in emergency homeless shelters in 2012, up 14 percent from 2011.

As tonight's temperatures are predicted to dip into the teens, the Buffalo City Mission is issuing a "Code Blue" for tonight.
