Two people are dead following an overnight shooting on Buffalo's East side. The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Sycamore Street and Jefferson Avenue. 

Investigators in Orleans County are looking into an apparent homicide.

Police in North Tonawanda are searching for a man they believe could be connected to the death of a woman earlier this week.

The woman found in the Lincoln Avenue residence has not been officially identified, but her death has been ruled a homicide. Police are searching for Brian Lowry, who they describe as an acquaintance of the woman. No further information about the connection of Lowry to the case has been divulged.

Anyone with knowledge of Lowry's whereabouts are asked to call North Tonawanda Police at 692-4111.

Victim's best friend charged in city homicide

A 22-year-old Buffalo man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his best friend.  23-year-old Jeremy Lott was shot to death in a double shooting early Sunday on Fillmore Avenue. 

John Carney has been charged with second-degree murder and assault.

26-year-old Lareecea Love of Buffalo was also shot, but was treated and released from ECMC.  Love was standing with Lott outside, smoking a cigarette, when Lott's friend Carney approached them.

"This reinforces our message to young people to put the guns down," said Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.

The samurai-sword wielding robber of a North Buffalo gas station/convenience store remains at large.  Mayor Byron Brown says the investigation of the armed hold-up at Hertel and Colvin avenues early Tuesday is continuing. 

Also, Brown says Homicide Detectives are still looking for a suspect in a deadly shooting near the Entertainment District.  Police say 27-year-old James Henley died early Sunday after being shot in a parking lot near South Elmwood and Johnson Parkway. 

Police identify body found in North Buffalo

Buffalo Police have identified the body of the city's latest homicide victim found in a normally quiet North Buffalo neighborhood. 16-year-old Darren Brown discovered on Friday evening in a wooded area near Colvin Avenue and Taunton Place. Police sat the body had been stabbed multiple times and set on fire. Homicide detectives are trying to determine a motive for the killing. Police said the murder scene reflects that of an unsolved murder from 1998. But authorities do not believe was a random killing. Police said they believe the killer knew the victim.

Buffalo homicide detectives are investigating the case of a male body found in North Buffalo on Friday night.

The deceased was discovered by passersby in a wooded lot along an old railroad bed near Colvin Avenue and Taunton Place.

Medical examiners are performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death. No other details are available at this time.

Buffalo Police identify latest homicide victim

 Buffalo Police continue to search for a suspect in a deadly shooting Sunday night on the city’s East Side. 

"25-year-old Hassan Jabbar of Buffalo was shot once, while he was on East Ferry Street, between Fillmore Avenue and Kehr Street, around 7:30 p.m.," according to Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives.

Police say Jabbar was taken to Erie County Medical Center, but died a short time after he arrived.
