Women represent fastest-growing demographic of hunters

More and more women in New York are picking up rifles for the first time, joining a growing population of female hunters.


A Chautauqua County hunter who accidentally shot and killed a woman who was walking her dogs in November of 2017 has been sentenced to one to three years in state prison.

A local state senator wants New York's constitution amended to guarantee the rights of residents to hunt and fish, joining 21 other states to enshrine those outdoor rights in their state charters.

Local hunters may have noticed fewer gobbling noises on some excursions. That’s because the wild turkey population in New York has been on the decline for quite some time, according to the State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Shotgun deer-hunting season began Saturday. There was one casualty.

Sheridan Fire Chief Jeffrey Roberts was laid to rest on Saturday morning.

The thirty-three year old volunteer firefighter was killed when he was shot while hunting in Stockton last weekend. Officials have ruled out an accidental shooting and investigators continue to review the case.

Sheriff's Deputies are working to identify the shooter.
