The COVID lid comes off Ontario Friday. Three days early, restaurants, bars and tourist attractions can open their doors and outdoor patios again. However, the larger question is, when will non-essential travel start to flow again on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border.

In a tourist city like Niagara Falls, ON, a full garbage can is unsightly and perhaps something that will be mentioned when a tourist is back home. Mayor Jim Diodati doesn't want that, especially along the busy Victoria Avenue tourist corridor. The city has a high-tech answer for the challenge and senses it can help earn $50 million for other smart innovations.

The push is on to install brighter lights to shine on Niagara Falls.  The move would replace the current lights which are nearly 75-years-old.

The mayor of Niagara Falls isn't getting very far with his call to offer free booze to gamblers in order to boost the number of visitors at Ontario casinos. The proposed moved was a bid to stem the continuing loss of gambling revenues.
