Newly revised numbers from the State Labor Department show Buffalo's job growth has not been as strong as previously declared. But one local economist is dubious of the new data.

Since the beginning of the year, Western New York has seen job growth at an annual pace of 1.7 percent. It’s more than double the pace of hiring in 2014, and on track to be the strongest year in terms of job growth in the last quarter century.

Job growth in Buffalo Niagara region hits 16-year high

Job growth in the Buffalo Niagara region has reached its strongest point in 16 years.  State Labor Department numbers show that over the last year, 12,700 new jobs have been created in the area. The growth spans almost every sector, including the construction industry, which hit a 25-year high in June.
