A Buffalo man is charged with witness tampering for allegedly shooting a person who was scheduled to testify hours later in a murder trial.

A Lackawanna man was sent to prison for six months and sentenced to 10 years of sex offender probation Tuesday for a sexual act with a 14-year-old at an Orchard Park salon.

In advance of January 1, 2020, Erie County District Attorney John Flynn is advising his prosecutors to seek special permission before requesting bail for those charged with misdemeanors and non-violent crimes. At the start of the new year, New York State will no longer allow bail to be imposed in such cases. According to Ali Ingersoll of Investigative Post, some factions of the criminal justice system may not be ready to embrace the reforms.

A suspended Erie County sheriff's deputy appeared in Lancaster Town Court Tuesday, arraigned in connection with a prostitution case involving his wife.

A 17-year-old Buffalo resident was arraigned Friday morning in two separate shooting incidents, one of which killed a local youth football coach who was trying to break up an altercation. If convicted in both trials, Jason Washington could face up to 75 years to life in prison.

Buffalo police and the Erie County District Attorney's Office are probing a series of crimes that appear to target a Muslim neighborhood on the city's East Side.

The man convicted last Friday of charges related to a violent arrest outside New Era Field in December 2017 has resigned his position as a deputy, the Erie County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday.

Sen. Liz Krueger (D-Manhattan) - who introduced New York's measure to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana - says the effort has gone up in smoke. In a statement released late Wednesday morning, Krueger said "it is clear the measure will not pass this session," but called it only "a delay," not the "end of the road."
