The struggle over the Scajaquada Expressway's speed limit continues, with two Buffalo councilmembers suggesting a different approach.

Buffalo Police have made an arrest in connection with a head-on collision that authorities say resulted from driving the wrong way on the Kensington Expressway.

The scent of exhaust fumes fill the air on a mid-January afternoon. Cars, trucks and buses zip back and forth from downtown Buffalo on the Kensington Expressway, also known as the Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway.

Republicans and Democrats in both houses of the New York State Legislature met Wednesday to hear a very long State of the State message about the issues affecting their political perspective and their districts.

Across Buffalo, a state agency is looking at extending the Metro Rail, another state agency is looking at re-doing the Scajaquada, another group is looking at finding a new Amtrak station and Congressman Brian Higgins is advocating removal of the Skyway. Buffalo's Common Council wants to put together a working group to look at the effect of all of these on the city.

The new state budget includes several projects designed to transform Buffalo's transportation infrastructure. Gov. Andrew Cuomo provided highlights Wednesday before a packed house at the Buffalo Museum of Science.

For two generations, the Kensington Expressway has cut through Buffalo's East Side along the route of Frederick Law Olmsted's old Humboldt Parkway. Now, there's an increasing push back against Route 33, even a movement to roof it over for much of its path.

What remains today of Buffalo’s Humboldt Parkway is an ordinary stretch of sidewalks and city streets, divided by the Kensington Expressway. Decades ago, it was a tree-lined parkway connecting major parks of the Olmsted system. On Saturday, a community coalition once again led the charge to restore the parkway design.


Call it a test night for the turtles. Crews who are in town to shoot a high-speed chase sequence for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" plan to do prep work along the Kensington Expressway on Friday.

One person is dead and another being is questioned after a fiery crash on the Kensington Expressway this morning.

Drivers can expect temporary lane closures on Route 33 over the next several months.

The first of April brings with it the start of construction in several locations along the Kensington Expressway. A project on Route 33 is funded through the New York Works program.

The New York State Police conducted a year long crack down on aggressive, drunk and dangerous drivers along the Kensington Expressway in Buffalo during 2011.

State Police Troop "A" patrolled the ten mile stretch of the 33 during both day and evening hours this past year. 

It resulted in a significant increase in traffic enforcement to make the roadway safer.  Troopers issued more than 3,000 tickets for speeding, violation to the "Move Over" law, aggravated unlicensed operation and eight DWI's.
